And speaking of that movement . . . this quote fits well with what I did today - and with that movement:

Now I really didn't need my soul healed this morning (thankfully)- but I got it healed, anyway!. I was with little Caroline while her mommy and daddy were at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas where John had surgery on his knee. The surgery went very well. And me, I got to have a wonderful time with sweet Caroline. She is such a dear. . . and wise beyond her months (she'll be 18 months June 28th). It was so great just being with her. Life seemed to slow down . . . and be very gentle.
Thank you, Lord.

Ok. I will join you. I'm about to take a nap actually. Or maybe just lay down and listen to music. that is my contribution today.

Nancy, you are so nice. I'm going to start working on a new entry just for you. So, I guess that means I'll have to put off joining the movement for about thirty minutes. Then, I plan to watch TV in support of the revolution.

I didn't know there was an actual movement going on, but I have been living that "slow" lifestyle for about three years now -- what a change it has made in my life. I get everything done that's really important and don't spaz out over a to do list that never is going to be blank anyway. And, I have time to REALLY enjoy everything I do because I have time to be in THAT moment instead of my mind always being concerned about the moment that's coming next. It's a softer, gentler way to be in the world - like a dog lying in the grass, eyes open, gently aware of everything going on around him, but not getting up to investigate anything until something unusual gets his attention -- just taking it all in and being happy to just be. I read about this in last months Oprah Magazine (Martha Beck's column -- June 2008), and she encouraged the reader to sit and "soft focus" for a few minutes and take note of everything you see, hear, smell, feel, taste. WOW -- it is SO relaxing to do that a couple of times a day -- and it's amazing how much is going on in the world that we miss cause we're so busy.
