2009 . . .

2009 was pretty good.

Well, the last month of it was GREAT.

Look who's going to be my son-in-law!......He is one wonderful person.

Other things happened, but right now all I can think of is that.

Oh, yeah, we had a White Christmas....
Oh, and that darling girl with the snow in her hair -she graduated from college in 2009!!!

Let's see...

Oh, (as if I could forget) we hosted the J. Earl White family reunion...

Oh, we discovered the beef brisket chili from Market Street. Oh my, it's a crowd pleaser...

The skillet cornbread was free with a quart of that chili... oh my...

Oh, and I went to Jack-in-the-Box once. This sign was up right before I paid in the drive-thru... One look and I knew it was blog-worthy...(I thought that was funny.)

Lots of other things happened . . .

Hmm.
Should it be disturbing that 4 of those photos had to do with food?

Happy New Year!!!

This is the weird week...

The week between Christmas and New Years always seems weird to me.
Well, weird and wonderful.

Especially this year.

It's snowed twice.

We're in full wedding plan mode.

Both of those have made it different ... and GREAT.

Oh, and I have some grandfish staying with me.
I guess I should feed them this morning....

Here are some random pics from the week...

On Sunday night we met up in Dallas with Ryan's family and watched AVATAR in 3D at the Imax theater on Webb Chapel and 635. Oh my. I give the movie 2 thumbs way up...

Yesterday we happened by the Piazza in Colleyville, and got a quick tour...
Next picture is in the only bridal shop we went to! (We had more appointments, but didn't need them... you can guess why!
The maid of honor couldn't be with us. She's living in Australia! We miss you, Allison! Stay warm. Oh, I mean, stay cool! (It's summer there.)

Oh, and here are the grandfish: Marty, Regina, Felix and Bruce (they're in there somewhere, swimming)...Regina's the black one in the middle. I like her a lot, but I think Marty is my favorite.
Oops, I guess I shouldn't have favorites.

Merry White Christmas!!!

For the first time in my entire life I've awakened to a truly White Christmas!

Wow!
Somewhere I read that the last time the Dallas/Fort Worth area had a White Christmas was in 1926. !!!

Oh, last night's Christmas Eve service was surprisingly well attended! On the way to church - 4:45- I put my foot on the brake and we just slid around. I called Sam on my cell phone less than a half a block away from the church and said, 'I can't drive anymore!'. He said, "You'll be fine. Come on." As usual the wise one was right. (After the service he drove us home.)

Well, Santa just filled the stockings with glee.
Now she's having some hot coffee.

Mmm.

A year ago . . .

And this year, this wonderful young man (in last year's picture) is our daughter's fiancé!....

Here they are last Sunday night, telling us how he proposed...It's a great story. They can maybe tell you about it sometime.

Tonight Laura and I are having a mother/daughter evening out.

You know what we'll be talking about!

Laura's engaged!!

Ryan had asked Sam and me for Laura's hand the Monday before Thanksgiving (at a very special meeting at our kitchen table). That was almost a month ago. Well, finally he was able to take her to Lake Waco - where they had their first date - and he proposed . . . and she said a hearty 'YES'!

Then they made the trek to our home where his family and hers and a few friends were gathered to celebrate. Here are some of the folks (click to enlarge)....(Above, from left: Will (brother of the bride), Bailey, Victoria (sister of the groom), Laura, Ryan , Zack (brother of the groom), Julia, Robert and Rachael.)

The next picture is of Ryan's family watching the DVD of a "Texas Country Reporter" episode featuring the World Hunger Relief Farm, where Laura and Ryan met. (They are in the video!)I had ordered that DVD several weeks ago and it came in the mail Saturday. Perfect. None of us had ever seen it before, though we knew it was out there. (What fun.)

Of course we had to have some pictures made...

Oh, here they are changing their Facebook status...

Oh, and there's this...

How exciting!

We love Ryan so much.

Thank you, Lord!
