I'm thinking instead of calling our country "The United States of America" we should call it 'CRITICS R US'.
Think about it. Everyone is a critic. With all the talk shows both on TV and radio and all the websites and blogs begging for comments on everything, well, it gets crazy. CRAZY.
And almost everyone is negatively critical.
I'm tired of it.
Back before most of you (who read this blog) were born Sam and I lived in Brazil. (Sorry - we talk about it all the time.) We returned to the States in August, 1983. Boy, did we have reverse culture shock when we returned. And it basically revolved around this idea of CRITICS. Oh my. Everywhere we looked we saw experts (critics) on everything, and then THEIR critics blasting them for whatever they said, etc., ETC., ETCETERA.......
And perfectionism was (is) rampant. . . which, of course, goes along with the idea of criticizing everything, and everyone.
Example: I got a book called COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL. It sent me into a tizzy. What if I had been wearing 'summer's' colors and I was a 'winter' all along?
Oh, but you say, 'don't conform!'. Ha. People who say that usually want to NOT CONFORM IN JUST THE RIGHT WAY.
I don't know, ..... I was just thinking about this today as I somehow found myself (off of GoogleNews) on PEOPLE magazine's website. (Hollywood is so high school, don't you think?)
Anyway, I just want to rebel.
I'm thinking about letting my hair go gray, by the way (just to warn you).
I know the following scripture may not seem to fit this rant, but to me it does. I LOVE IT.
I'll leave you with it.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Isn't that great?!
(Feelin' good now. Thanks for letting me vent.)
