Sam and I have planted 46 varied colored verbena plants in the back by the pool, and about 20 (purple) in the very very front, and lots (maybe 40) of little lantana plants - far apart from each other. And some patriot red geraniums - by the child and dog statue sitting on the rusty bench (that Sam thinks we ought to keep rusty)-and more geraniums in front of the living room. Whether geraniums are not in style - nor lantana (though I think verbena are still the rage) we are growing what we know (maybe) how to grow. Right now we're taking a break, and I'm thinking I need to take some pictures for my blog. (Is everything about my blog?!)
All of this has been (is being) an education for us, especially the organic gardening part. Instead of Roundup, we've used some vinegar in places - to kill some weeds - but clearly Roundup is more effective, so some places we'll still use Roundup.
Has it been fun? Well, yes. And we did eat last night out (Rosa's). Tuesday and Wednesday we ate leftover pizza from Monday night. Papa John's pizza makes GOOD leftovers. Put in the oven on a cookie sheet for 375 degrees for about 15 minutes - and you'll swear the leftovers are better than the fresh pizza slices. For lunch we've cleaned up and gone to Cotton Patch most days. (Got to get our veggies.)
You wanted to know every detail of our 'staycation', right?
I didn't proof this well, but I'll hit PUBLISH anyway.
