Good times...

Saturday Mother and I went to Canton to spend the night, so as to go to Colfax Homecoming the next day. The last Sunday in August is always Homecoming. It's not a football game ... but a church service at the church where I was married - and across from the cemetery where my dad, twin sister, and all my dad's relatives that have died are buried. And it's down the road from "White Haven", the old home site of the Will White clan - and where my folks lived after they moved away from MY 'hometown', beloved Mission, Texas. (I had to put my plug in for Mission. -- Go Eagles!)

The church was packed with folks coming 'home' to their roots. Lots of memories were shared, like how my great grandfather, Will White, would come to church in his horse-drawn wagon, long after most folks had cars. Every time we go to Homecoming the old-timers talk about that... and point to where he would park that wagon.

Here's the window dedicated to my great grandparents...

After the service we had a covered dish lunch... with the best homecookin' you can imagine. (That meant an Ultra Slimfast Bar today, of course.)

Anyway, Mother did the memorial part of the service. She read some poems, and scripture- and then listed those who had died in the past year. The man sitting next to her was so impressed that he wanted a copy of one of the poems, so as to be read at his funeral someday. After she did her part I sang and played a medley of "Fill My Cup, Lord", "I'd Rather Have Jesus", and "It Is No Secret." I wanted to do some old songs... since the whole morning was about remembering. Anyway, it was fun. Oh, and the sermon was given by my second cousin-once-removed, Buddy Matthews. Very good sermon. And good day all around.

It's good to have roots. Good roots.

2 Sweet Carolines...

I went to little Caroline's dance class this week - and caught these pictures. Above is Caroline on the left, with her little friend, Caroline, on the right. Aren't they adorable?!

Here's she's all ready... with her little tap shoes on!

I opened the door, stuck my camera in and took a quick snap (the 2 Carolines are on the far right - on the other side of the room.)...

Outside in the hall, Mommy is reading to Andrew...

It's a great life.

(Oh, we did the yard work. You may not tell much difference when you see it-- but 'oo and ah' anyway, okay?)

While takin' a break from yard work...

...I found these....

I thought those were worth a chuckle.

Look...

...who came to see me yesterday!

What a thrill.
I had canceled Monday night supper... but I got to see my favorite folks anyway!!
They brought me a sweet gift - for helping out when Elizabeth was sick.

Their visit made my day...

Thank you, Lord.

Taking care of me...

(I took this picture a while back just for fun and thought today was a good day to use it.)

I was playing in the tea room Saturday... when suddenly I started to feel terrible. The last time I felt so bad was after I'd eaten in a little Mexican restaurant - that was in a garage - and Rob, if you read this - you'll remember. (Rob and I each got SO sick that night.) Well, that feeling was surfacing, shall we say.

Sam had to come get me ...

Long story very short... I canceled supper tonight. I definitely am feeling better, but not enough to do anything but blog.

Have a great day.

GRACE...

I just went to Elizabeth's blog and was given a dose of grace. GRACE. mmm. Her post consisted of a normal-day house tour. In it she had pictures of her messy kitchen desk, the bathroom that was not model-home neat... and just, well, other pictures of living around the house.

I was needing that.

I'm having about 20 folks from church over Sunday afternoon - and well, was doing my usual 'will-they-notice-all-the-dog-hair?' type of thinking that accompanies home entertaining. Well, it may not accompany YOUR home entertaining but it always does mine.

So Elizabeth made me go, "AH....." It's okay if I'm not perfect. I mean, if Elizabeth can be okay with not being perfect (She's not?!), then I can, too.

That's my thought for the day.

Oh, and here's Shiloh-pup, the dog-hair provider...
He looks sad, but he jumped up right away with full energy - for his breakfast snack.

I just love that dog.

He's a grace-giver, too.

Today . . .

... I had some special guests come to the tea room!... Caroline, her mom, Charlsa, her sister-in-law, Cassie, and her precious little nephew, Kohen....What a treat!

... Oh, and I got to use Sam's computer so I could report the surprise visit.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to get a visit from some ladies who are - at this moment I'm writing this - at the Paul McCartney concert!! I can't wait to get a report!!! By the way, they had to pay $37.50 just for parking! I can't wait to get a report on THAT!! (Reports don't cost anything. - How smart am I?!)

Oh dear....

...my computer is having problems. It's one of those 'Mac Air' laptops. It's really thin, and lightweight. And apparently very fragile. I guess I haven't been gentle enough with it. Sam is taking it in tomorrow to get it fixed. Hopefully that won't take long....... I mean, I might have to suffer withdrawal or something.

And you, too.... with no blog from me.

Take a deep breath.

We'll get through it.

Proud Mama Keeps on Braggin'!!!!

My little girl graduated from Baylor University today.... magna cum laude, in fact!!!

It was a glorious day.

If I knew how to put an arrow on this next picture - to tell you where Laura was - I would. Maybe you could click it and see it bigger. I dare you to find her...

This dark picture shows you the big picture on the big screen they put up of Laura getting ready to get her degree - from her Uncle Steve, who is a Regent at Baylor! Then he hugged her!

After the graduation ceremony...

And then at lunch at Ninfa's. (In retrospect I so wish we had MADE ROOM for Steve and family!)
On the way home...

Yesterday and tomorrow...

Yesterday Ryan's mother, sister, and grandparents came to the tea room! It was Laura's last day to work there and well, it was very special.
Ryan definitely comes from good stock. They're my kind of people... the wonderful kind...

And here's some big news: tomorrow Laura graduates Magna Cum Laude from Baylor University!
I've put together a green and gold outfit for me to wear. [That's the main thing.]

SERIOUSLY, we are SO PROUD OF LAURA KATHERINE!! There will be lots of loud cheers when she goes across the stage.
SIC 'EM, LAURA!!!!!!!!

IT'S YOUR DAY, LAURA....

...make it a great one!!!

I was going to upload pictures of Laura, but am in a business setting (though my own meeting hasn't started yet) and for some reason I guess they just want us to do business here.... Hmmm.

I also have pictures of Andrew's one year birthday party ready to show.

Hmm. I hadn't realized I was so dependent on visual aids for my blog.

Well, y'all have a great day. Especially you, Laura... since it's YOURS!!!

Great-niece-doggies...

As you may (or may not) know, Laura has been housesitting/dogsitting for Rob and Caroline these last eight days. Well, Sam and I had to go and check it all out, seeing as we're all related.

Here's Sherbotzky (Sherbs)...

and Lola...

and Connie (which is actually Caroline's parents' dog)...

This next picture shows you how small these dogs are. That pink house shoe is not all that big....

Here's great Uncle Sam with Sherbs and Lola...

Here's Laura with Lola...

Hmm... those little dogs make Shiloh-pup seem like a very lazy, very slow-moving, and definitely very large dog.
Oh, but definitely as lovable.
