Yesterday . . .

Yesterday was a good day.

I ate lunch and dinner with my dear niece Elizabeth and precious Caroline and Andrew.
We ate lunch at Central Market, where we got to eat outside and enjoy the great weather. (I had to take a picture, of course.)

Then last night we ate dinner here at our house. I call it 'dinner' but it was really 'supper'. We had Firehouse subs, chips and raw veggies. My kind of meal.

We were spending the day in remembrance of my sweet twin, and Elizabeth and Cap's mom, Peggy Jean. (I'm Nancy Jane.)

Here's a picture of her with Cap and Elizabeth back in 1982...Twenty one years ago yesterday Peggy died of breast cancer. She was diagnosed in 1984 when she was 32. Elizabeth was just two years old and Cap was almost four years old. Neither of them remember her as a well person. She died 4 1/2 years later.

Here are some lessons:
- Women: do self-exams, and get mammograms.
- Never assume that you're going to grow old.
- Tell people that you love them, as Peggy did - all the time.

There are more lessons... and I may write about them later.

One thing I will write about soon is what happened to me the morning of her funeral. I'll try and tell about that tomorrow.

In closing, here are pictures of Peggy and me in our younger days...

That last picture shows you that my mom has always been a beauty.

I LOVE these photo's, Nancy!!! I think I can tell you two girls apart too -- it's in the eyes. Your mom looks AMAZING for having just given birth to twins -- and you're right, she's gorgeous. She still has that same beauty and radiance in her face too.

I'm glad you spent the day with Elizabeth, took a day to celebrate Peggy.

That's impressive that Beth can tell you guys apart, because I always have trouble. It's always been a fun game though.

I wish I could remember Peggy. I remember coloring in a coloring book in the waiting room, I think.

Glad you and Elizabeth could spend time together on such a special day.

LOVE this post. I absolutely love the pictures of you and Peggy. I think I can tell you two apart also...are you the one in the BACK on the first picture, and the one on the LEFT in the second picture? In the second picture I think you look like Will and Laura. I like reading your blog, it is always fun.

Thank you for posting this! Elizabeth is such a dear friend to me, and I love hearing about her mother... because I know she must have been an incredible person! Being her twin, you're incredible, too! (You're also incredible in your own right.)

I love seeing these pictures, and I love that you spent time with Elizabeth and her sweet babies yesterday. A hard day always made better by those we love.

Central Market lunch = best ever. They need one out here, so I can go there for lunch, too. Admittedly, we pick up dinner there all too often. ;)

For today I'm reminiscing about my childhood. I had this fella! (Well, one that looked exactly like him.) I called him "Muncle - li...
