I'm not supposed to tell you...

.... when we will be gone to Scotland to see Will and Bailey.
So I won't.

If you guess, well, Shiloh will do everything he can to keep you from robbing our house.

Andrew is going to be feeding Shiloh while we're gone.  (Andrew will have a chauffeur to take him to our house, as he can't drive yet.)

Here's an old picture of Andrew (and his chauffeur) with Shiloh ...
You can see they go way back.

Here's a picture I took of Andrew last week...
He's showing me how he can 'surf' on a little picnic bench.

Here he is eating eating one of his favorite foods with his little sister...
That's Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.
He knows he can usually get that at his Aunt Nancy's house.

So all will be well whenever we go to Scotland.

I wonder if we'll see something like this over there...
(No offense, Keith Cartlidge.)
(Keith plays bagpipes.)
Well, I'm putting no new polls on this blog for a while.
There were glitches in the system, and our votes weren't being counted.
I can't have that!
You have a good rest-of-the-day!

Do you trust the presidential polls out there?

Well, I guess I do.... but they're all over the place.

I guess that means it's going to be a close election.

I hope not like the Gore/Bush election -with those hanging chads.
If you remember that then you don't want that close of an election either.
(I remember having a dream about Gore winning.  I woke up in a cold sweat.)  (Really.)
(Sorry, all my Democrat family and friends.)

(If you don't know about the hanging chads, do a Google search.  You'll find out about them.)

I have a question: have YOU ever been polled?
I haven't.

It seems at my age somebody might have polled me by now.... but NO.

Who(m) do they poll?
I thought random people, of which I am one.

If you've ever been polled by Gallup, or Rasmussen, or Pew, or any reputable poll people, I'd like to know about it.
Speaking of polls, I'm going to quit having one on my upper right side of this blog (or anywhere).  The last few days my poll has not shown accurately the votes on my poll... not even MY vote. :(
That is frustrating, yes ... but not worth my energy fretting about (to end with a preposition).

I have other things to think about.... like WHAT TO PACK FOR MY TRIP TO SCOTLAND!!!!

We will soon see these precious folks.....
I can hardly wait to hug them,
give them
the El Yucateco Red Chile Habanero Hot Sauce Will requested.

This week...

... in pictures (just a few)...
(I stayed with the kids - and we went to see Nana (Mother) - as John and Elizabeth went to San Antonio for Elizabeth's grandmother's funeral (Emory's dear mom)...

Here are some pics....

That was Andrew in the Captain America pajamas that his Mimi sent him!

And Caroline doing some cartwheels and then some splits....

...and here's what I found on my pillow Wednesday night (actually Anna's bed, that I slept in)...

Then I turned over the little 'note'...
That was so sweet.

I slept well Wednesday night, after getting that little note.
Oh yes.

Life is good.

So good.

I put up a new poll (upper right).  My other poll was somehow messed up.  Maybe this new one won't be.

Sight and Light...

Lately I've been listening to THE WORLD I LIVE IN by Helen Keller, when I go to the gym.

It is so interesting and, as you'd expect, it has made me more appreciate my eyes and ears.  Sometimes I so take them for granted.

I may talk about hearing later, but for now I'm going to talk about sight, and light.

As you may know, when I was young I worked at a camp for physically disabled children.  One little girl was completely blind.  Her name was Donna and she was ten years old when I met her.  Her mother told me (her camp counselor) to put my hand on the back of her head to stop her from shaking her head back and forth (kind of like in a 'NO' motion).  She did that for balance, mainly, though she was learning to get balance without doing that.   Her mother wanted her to continue to get balance without her head movement.

That made me think of light, in a different way than I sometimes do (which is just to help us see).  It DOES help us with balance.  When there is nothing but darkness we kind of have a vertigo, a weird nothing-is-right sensation.

There are many lessons I can learn from this 'light' thinking.

One is that just a little light can help.  (You've noticed that, when you get up in the night, how just a teeny-tiny little light is essential to help you find your way.)

And if there is no light, absolutely none, you have to find a way to find your way.  And you have to balance yourself.  If you can't, your life is out of kilter for sure.

I repeat, there are so many lessons in that.

And there are so many Bible verses about Jesus being the Light of the world.
For example, John 8:12,

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

That is amazing, don't you think?

It reminds me that when I'm not walking in the light of Jesus Christ, I am in darkness for sure, though at the time I may be blind to that fact.

Wow. There are so many lessons....  and light.... and Life in this.
(I'll go deeper sometime later.)
(And you can, too.)

Now, on a TOTALLY different note, I VOTED TODAY!!!
(Well, that may not be on a totally different note. I mean, I've prayed about this election, and voted with the light I believe I've been given).

There was quite a long line at the Colleyville City Hall for early voting.
That was good to see.
I thought Obama and Romney both did pretty well last night in the final debate.

I'm glad that was the final debate.  Whew!

I put up a new poll (upper right).  Please vote, THANKS!!

We went to Dallas today to see Laura and Ryan!

Mother had never seen their house, so.....
(I just love that picture of Grandmother with Granddaughter.)

I think the Maxwells' house is really classy... and artsy... and homey... and wonderfully lovely.

Here Laura is showing her grandmother some of the art in the living room...
There is a Bible passage written all around the edge of that picture.

Here's Sam in their study...
I said, "Smile for the camera, Sam." So he did.

Here are Ryan and Laura in their breakfast nook...

Here is the breakfast nook...
You can see in the bottom right where Akon and Olive eat.

Here are Akon and Olive looking through that very window...

Olive is Will and Bailey's dog.  Akon (and L&R) are taking care of her while W&B are in Scotland.

Here's a good picture of her sweetness...
She's very friendly, and has NOT tried to eat any chickens (that is, until after she was made to know that was a VERY bad idea).

So now are some pictures of the back porch and yard....
Those chickens are so soft. (I hadn't pet (petted) a chicken before, so I had had no idea.)

There are six chickens and they are prolific in their creations....

Back inside I was impressed with how the Maxwells used an old chair of Ryan's...
It's a nightstand!!

Well, I took many more pictures, but may show them to you later.
I need time to tell you what happened after we showed Grandmother their house.
We did my favorite thing: we went out to eat!!

It was DELISH.

This picture looks like what Ryan ordered...

This next picture looks a little like what I ordered...
I got those pictures when I did an image search for LA CALLE DOCE.

Sam and I both said that we WERE GOING TO GO BACK SOMEDAY!!!
It was so delicious.

It was a wonderful time today.
I just hope the Baylor Bears give us a wonderful game against Texas, which starts in 20 minutes!!!

Here's a picture for you....
Ryan got this recently.
He's a Bear now, you know... as he is going to the Baylor School of Nursing's graduate school.

More Whimsy...

... from Lonestar Antiques (5605 Denton Highway, Haltom City, TX)...

(I have a favorite picture from these... I'd love to know if you do, too.)

That last picture is what you'll see when you walk into the antique mall (on the right).
That area is always being redecorated for each season and/or holiday.

I love just walking into the mall.
