On nieces, and then penguins...

Would you believe I haven't seen my little great nieces and nephew since Christmas day?!
And one of them had a birthday....
That picture was taken by her mom at her school party. 
Her birthday is Dec. 28, which means she has to celebrate at school in January.
I think she is okay with that, though.

So I've really been missing the little ones and will have to remedy that SOON!

It made me think of Bailey Jo.
She's not getting to see her little nieces till Sept!

Ah, but she sees pictures.

And those little nieces take delightful pictures...
Is that not super precious?


Well, my niece Elizabeth and I ARE communicating, but it's mainly by text.

Here's something she sent yesterday...

That made me want to do a search for more penguin cartoons.

(I thought those were worth a smile.)

They made me think of this next gadget I'd seen on someone's blog.

Dos Sobrinos

(I want to learn Spanish better, so I thought I'd make my title in Spanish, for 'two nephews'.)

I've recently seen some pictures of two of our sobrinos.
The pictures are so darling I had to blog them...

there's a new book out that I may have to get.
It's written by a cold-case homicide detective.
He was an atheist, but embraced Christianity
after doing his own detective work.
It sounds amazing.

Different Notes...


The owls


On a different note, Sam and I are a part of the DOWNTON ABBEY subculture now.

We've been watching it on Netflix and we can watch the episodes back to back to back to back,
which makes it very time consuming (but somebody's got to do it).

Some of the characters are wonderful, and some are despicable... just like any good soap opera.

On another different note,
we've discovered
a great frozen pizza,
Newman's Own Thin & Crispy Supreme Pizza...

I add chopped onions and green pepper,
and more cheese, but I think it would be good
just the way it is.  What we mainly like is the crust.

Another different note: as I was out and about today I saw these bumper stickers on a pickup in front of me (at a red light)...
In case you can't read them, the one on the left says, "Live life like there's no end to your leash!" and the one on the right says, "I rescued my best friend."
I thought those were great.

On another different note, I bought some Girl Scout cookies today.   I hadn't planned to buy any, but those little girls were so cute, and they made me think of another little girl years ago who sold Girl Scout cookies.

I looked and looked for the picture of her with her some of her Daisy friends, but I couldn't find it.  (Daisies are the youngest of the Girl Scouts.  They're kindergarten, as I recall.)

 I DID find this picture, though, of my little Daisy, at her birthday party that same year....
You may also recognize her brother and her cousin! 
(I love that picture.)

So those are my notes for today.

I've put up a new poll (upper right), though I'm thinking of quitting those polls since it's so hard to vote sometimes (you have to keep clicking).  Ah, but as long as I have a  few voters, I'll probably keep polling along!

Just some random random...

First random: Today is National Pie Day!

Second random...
Last night I went to a slumber party.

It was just Mother and I at her place.
We had Pizza Hut pizza (which we overate).
(At slumber parties you're SUPPOSED
to overeat.)

We watched "Wheel of Fortune",
then two back-to-back episodes
of Betty White's "Off Their Rockers".
We'd never seen it before,
and though parts were
a little risque, it made us laugh out loud a couple of times.

Third random: Earlier yesterday, I had fun playing fun songs in the tea room.
The lady sitting by herself next to the piano starting bobbing her head, swaying her arms even, and tapping her feet, which made me play even more fun songs.
By 'fun songs' I mean, "You Are My Sunshine", "She'll Be Comin' Around the Mountain", "Hey, Good Lookin", "King of the Road", "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "Hello My Baby", and I can't remember what else.    Anyway, it was fun ... and hopefully made for good digestion.

Fourth random: After I played I went to ROSS, where on Tuesdays there is a 10% discount for folks over 55.  I bought a basket and a couple of things for Mother's and my booth.   That was fun.

Fifth random: Then I came home and saw an email from my aunt Helen Ruth.  (I call her 'Helen Ruth' to differentiate from 'Aunt Helen' in Tennessee.)

Truth be told...

I don't trust Lance Armstrong at all.

I didn't watch the 2-part Oprah interview.

I knew it would be contrived, so why bother?

Have you known perpetual liars?  When it dawns on you that that is what they are, well, you (I) just dismiss them.

It's not that I don't forgive them. I just don't trust them.

Fortunately, I don't know very many.  Or if I know them I haven't identified them yet.

Ah, but isn't it wonderful to think about the good folks you know?

The Bible tells us to think about the good.
Philippians 4:8, 
Finally brothers and sisters,
whatever is true,
whatever is noble, 
whatever is right,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable—
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

I think that includes thinking about good people.

Oh, nobody's perfect... but you know people in your present and in your past that are GOOD FOLK.

My sermon today: think about those GOOD FOLK.
Maybe make a list of them.
Maybe write them a thank you note.
Maybe just sit and picture them and the good times you've had with them.

You don't have to know them well.... but you know you know some.

Think about them... and not Lance Armstrong.
