Five on Friday...

Here are five things for today....

1. Seventy years ago today....

I am overwhelmed with gratitude to the men
who landed that day on the beaches of Normandy.

2. I just read the following on Facebook, that my childhood friend, Myra Rhyne Baker posted....
There's no parade, no vacation day, no bar-b-que, no flags to wave. The group is small that survived this day, not many left to celebrate. No one knows what it was really like to land on a beach and have to fight. The men were young and full of life, they entered battle to end the strife. Someday they will be just a memory but today they are the last members of this history. Thank you for being brave and true for fighting to protect the red, white and blue.

Thanks, Myra.

(Here Myra was in high school.)

(She was (is) a great - and beautiful- twirler.)

3.  On a different note: here's my granddaughter with her Aunt Laura (my daughter) last week...
I love them both so much.

4. Here's my great (and wonderful) niece Anna, whom I love so much....
I give her chocolate AND vanilla ice cream
and she dips her spoon in one and then the other
and has a party in her mouth!

4. Here she is with her big brother, introducing me to their new kittens....
On the left is Oreo, and on the right is formerly Pitch.
They changed his name - and I can't remember his new name.

5. I saw this on a car last week at a stoplight and thought that Will's car needs that (those)....

Those are my five random things today.

Have a great weekend...
and remember to give thanks for the men who died that we could be free.
