Road work really wrecked my Wrednesday!

(I really know how to spell today's name. I just had a chance for alliteration, and took it!)

Here's what happened this morning...
My cul-de-sac was CLOSED.
Actually, I didn't take this picture... it's for effect.
I ran an errand this morning (to get a haircut) and got out okay onto Jackson Rd. There was roadwork being done, but I got out and drove to the hair-stylist's.
Then I drove home, so as to be here when dear little Nell (my almost-one-year-old granddaughter) was to come for me to watch her.  (I watch her Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for about 5 hours.)
Lo and behold my road was closed! The roadworker-man said I absolutely couldn't drive there and told me to go to the next street. I said, "But it's a cul-de-sac, with just that road!"  He shook his head and said, "I'm sorry, lady."
I got in touch with Bailey, and we met in the Target parking lot... and Nell got in my car (in the car seat I always have for her).   I had no diaper bag and neither did Bailey.  She did have her stroller which she loaned me (mine was at the house), so I drove to a street I could drive on.... put Nell in the stroller and we took a walk to my house.
When she wakes up from her nap, and after her lunch, we'll take another walk and get my car... provided I can soon drive on Jackson Court! If not, we'll meet Bailey on another walk.
(Update: the road opened, so Nell and I got the car... and Bailey came to get her here.)

Oh, and they're building a roundabout down at Cheeks-Sparger and Jackson (which becomes Central when you're going south).  It seems to be taking forever.... but it will be so nice when it's done.

There is one at Glade and Jackson and I found a picture of it online (well, before it was 'done', I guess.)....

I really like it.

There are several roundabouts in the area.
My favorite is in Southlake at Carroll/Brumlow and Continental.

In the middle of that roundabout they have this statue...

I love that... and it's so appropriate since it's near an elementary school.

Anyway, road work is everywhere, and thankfully some of it is almost done.

Hopefully my road will be done SOON!!
(especially since I hear Nell waking up from her nap!)
