Ready or not ...

... is (almost) here.

I can remember anticipating 1970 with fear and trembling.

And then I'd think about the year 2000,
when I would be two years away from being 50.
I could barely imagine that.
I think I thought I'd be like someone else.

And I can remember thinking about the age the Beatles sang about - 64 -
and the word 'elderly' would come to mind.

I'm posting a men's choir singing it ... it's fun (for us old geezers).

And this time next week that is what, when, where I'll be: 64!!!
Ready or not.

And I am liking that!

Who knew I would!?

Well, of course, parts of me do NOT like that... but parts of me so do.

As the old hair color ad used to say,
"You're not getting older.  You're getting better."
And I think I am.

I could elaborate on that but I'll just close with some 'posters' I like
that I've seen on Facebook these last few days.

That's pretty good, huh?

Both of the above 'posters' come from Ginny Murphy.
Thanks, Ginny!

And there's this...

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

That is the main one...
and my resolution this year is to memorize more Bible verses.

I have found that when I'm working on Bible verses...
or laughing...
or praying for folks around me
I don't have the time or energy to worry.
And I am free... to be me, who God made me to be.

At my age that is SUPER.
(Well, at any age.)

Sweet Shiloh-Pup...

We now live in an apartment... and who knew it would be conducive to having a big dog living with us?

Well, it is... since he is a big, LOVABLE dog.

Here we are....

... and again...
(I like photos of shadows in the morning.)

And here's Sam with Shiloh recently...

So Shiloh has really turned out to be a good apartment dog.

Well, he's about 12 years old...
so he lies around...
and likes being with us, it seems.

And he SO likes going for walks with us.

On a different (yet similar) note, Sam found out that pumpkin can really help dogs...
especially when owners of dogs change dog food brands.
That is an actual picture of the pumpkin we bought for Shiloh.

Shiloh does well with pumpkin. Really well.

His 'business' is great.

Speaking of that here's an appropriate cartoon I found...

[Clearly you can find pictures/cartoons of anything on]

I'll close this post with this sweetness...

I have a new poll up!
Please vote if you can!

Trivia Tuesday ... 12 bits of Trivia.... (some personal)...

It's that wonderful time of year.... after Christmas and before New Years...
... when I don't need to start on a diet yet!

And it's Tuesday ... and lately I've been loyal to Trivia Tuesday.

Here we go...

1. Since I was little I didn't want anything but strawberry jam/preserves on my toast, biscuits or pbj sandwiches.  None of the grape stuff.
(I have notions, like my dad.)

2. My dad (who will be gone 9 years ago tomorrow) always had his brands he was loyal to.... like Owens regular sausage.

3. My daughter Laura used to (still does, I think) love Subway.... and as a little girl would want to go there for her birthday!

She usually got the turkey sub.

4. One of my husband's favorite meals is my homemade hamburgers. I just add lots of salt and pepper to the ground beef and don't pat them too tight.  (That's what the Kincaid's owner told us they do at Kincaid's, too.  Oh, and the last name of the Kincaid's owner/manager in Southlake is Carmack (well, unless he's moved on.)
I'm getting hungry.

5. My son and his beautiful wife have developed a 'hankering' for Thai food.... and eat it on special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries).   Maybe I need to try it again... to get the 'hankering' of it.
They particularly like Sweet Basil in Hurst near NorthEast Mall.

So that is some personal, culinary trivia.

Now here's some random, nonpersonal trivia.....

6. In 1961, Martha Stewart was selected as one of Glamour magazine;s “Ten Best-Dressed College Girls.”

7. Alaska is the only state that can be typed on one row of keys. (Go ahead and try typing the other 49 states.)

8. Buckingham Palace has 602 rooms.

9. In 1907, an ad campaign for Kellogg’s Corn Flakes offered a free box of cereal to any woman who would wink at her grocer.

10. Male students at Brigham Young University need a doctor’s note to grow a beard.

11.  Icelanders consume more Coca-Cola per Capita than any other nation.

12. Miami is the only major American city founded by a woman.

My poll now is not my own.  I copied and pasted it from another site.
Sam calls it the "Temptations of Christ" poll.
Well, there were three temptations of Christ..  so one of them is random.

Happy New Year!!!

Christmas 2015, Part 2!

These pictures are of Christmas morning... when we had a super deluxe Christmas breakfast, made by the men!!!

We had 18 in our apartment!  (That included Shiloh-pup.)

Here we go .... with no captions... I'm too tired to add captions. (These pictures are basically in the order they were taken.... except for the very last one...which I forgot to include earlier... but I like it so much I tagged it on at the end.)

That's Ryan on the right, with his brother Zach and little sis Victoria!
That's my dear mother with her 5 great grandchildren.

And this last one gives you a feel of what was going on in our apartment at one time ....

It was a great day!!!

And I love the memories it made!!!

Christmas 2015... Part 1...

The eve before Christmas Eve our immediate family got together.

Here's Mother/Grandmother/Nana with her little great grandson, Liam.
Awwwww ..... Sweetness!

Awwwww.  More sweetness.

Before that we ate together...

And brother and sister enjoyed Nell...

And they enjoyed her little brother, too...

Now those of you who knew Daddy Bob,
tell me if Liam doesn't look like his great granddaddy, Daddy Bob...
I so think he does!!!
(He's 7 1/2 weeks old in that above picture.)
(He IS Daddy Bob!)

Here are some more pictures of Christmas Eve Eve...

And here's little Nell as they were leaving....
She's wearing a little coat her daddy picked out for her.

Earlier in the week, I played (and ended up leading singing)
at the Richland Hills Rehab and HealthCare Center.

I was thrilled my mother could join me.

Here are some pics of that...
That's me, way behind Mother.

The man on the left (across for Mother by two ladies) really sang. (I was so glad.)
Look how happy he looks.

Here are more carolers...
That lady in the green sweater - with red) near the tree... was FANTASTIC in singing.
She said she used to play the organ at a church,
and she even led a choir!

Here I am playing...

That was definitely not the fanciest nursing home in the metroplex...
but it was SUPER.

And I LOVED being there.

Before that party, I celebrated Christmas with the English as a Second Language (ESL) class
last Sunday (Dec. 20) at Bear Valley Community Church.

Here are some pics on that...
We had such fun... and overate... and that was the Sunday before Christmas week.

And now as I type this, Christmas is basically over for me and mine....
Ah, but I have MORE PICS...

I know you're interested!!!
I hope you have had/are having a wonderful Christmas!!!!

Oh, there is a new poll up (upper right).
I would love some votes... if possible.

Trivia Tuesday

The word “infant” is from the Latin for “unable to speak".
Ah, but that little baby speaks volumes, don't you think? 😊 ---------...
