Trivia Tuesday

Bob Dylan’s first professional recording was as a harmonica player at a Harry Belafonte.session.

Here are other pictures of him...

He is now 76 years old.

Dylan didn’t speak for one week after Elvis Presley died.

The King passed away on August 16, 1977. Dylan, who was going through a divorce at the time, was at his Minnesota farm with his kids and their art teacher, Faridi McFree, who told him the news. Dylan later said that once he heard, “I went over my whole life. I went over my whole childhood. I didn’t talk to anyone for a week after Elvis died. If it wasn’t for Elvis and Hank Williams, I couldn’t be doing what I do today.”

In 1960, Tommy Smothers of the Smothers Brothers tried to get the manager of a Denver club to kick Bob Dylan off the bill, complaining that his voice was awful.

Here are the Smothers Brothers from years ago...
I used to really enjoy the Smothers Brothers.
The one on the left was hilarious.

Back to Bob Dylan: he wrote "Make You Feel My Love."
That beautiful song has been performed by Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Adele, among others.

Here is Adele's version...

Now listen to Dylan singing it...

There is a difference, I'd say!

This makes me think how truly it is Bob Dylan's songwriting that really made him famous.
