Let's have fun!

I may nominate my Sam for 'Granddad of the Year'.
(Let me know if there is such a contest.)
(Oh, I will start a contest! Sam is the winner!!)

"Daddy Pap" (My Hubby Sam) ordered some fun stuff for our house for Christmas- and let it be for our grandkids and great nieces and nephew...

Here's Sam putting some of it together..

The table was quite a find.

And nothing he ordered 'broke the bank', as they say.

I can't wait till the little ones see it all.

(I'll let you know how they like it.)
(Well, I LIKE IT!!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Christmas Album - 2017

This photo album is NOT exhaustive.
(We still have Christmas to celebrate in mid January.
- I like drawing celebrations way out through the weeks.)

Here are just a few pictures - with me wishing I'd taken more.

I didn't take this first picture, but here are my 2 Texas grandchildren Christmas Eve...
Are they not amazingly cute/darling/wonderful???
-------

Sam and I went to Collective Church's Christmas Eve service...
Here is Caroline, Rob's (the pastor - and our nephew's) wife,
with their youngest son, Abel...
Yes, they are gorgeous people.
-----

Then we got pictures texted to us from Oregon...

And there's this on Christmas Day...
Oh my. I can't look at that enough!
-------

On Christmas morning, we had Christmas breakfast!!!

Here are Sam and John cooking, with Andrew looking on.

And then John serenaded us a little on the piano. (You didn't know he played? He does!!)

-------

Well, I did not get a picture of the food, nor us eating the food.
(I guess I had forgotten I had a blog!)
It WAS DELICIOUS.
Sam knows how to make good sausage gravy for the biscuits. Yum.
And Elizabeth's homemade cinnamon rolls were divine.
It was all wonderful.
---------
After we ate, we (Sam and the kids) opened 2 big boxes of gifts...

Those 2 gifts were for "Grammy and Daddy Pap's House"... and were like an indoor play gym, and an arts and crafts table. (I will show them to you when they are assembled, which has not happened yet.)

------
This next picture is of Elizabeth with Liam.
You can't tell it, but Liam was laughing loudly as Elizabeth was playing with him.
(I love hearing Liam laugh!!)
-----
Here's Liam with his dad, Will...
Liam's glasses add a certain dignity to him, don't you think?
AND it is OBVIOUS they are helping him see. YAY!!!

--------

At our Christmas breakfast celebration were Ryan's parents and sister, Victoria.
We were thrilled they could join us.
And they helped us have a fun 'FaceTime' with Ryan, Laura and Ransom in Oregon.

It was a super fun Christmas.

Then everyone went off to their other family celebrations.
I'm glad they got to start the morning with us,
well, after they had discovered Santa's gifts.

I love Christmas...
but I don't mind telling you that I'm glad when it's over.

Ah, but I love the memories!!!

Oh, and my mother was there (here) looking gorgeous,
with wonderful gifts.
(My camera forgot about my blog.)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Trivia Tuesday

Spanish tradition is to eat 12 grapes at midnight of 31st December. While eating these grapes, Spaniards will make wishes. This tradition is believed to bring good luck for those who practice it. This grape eating tradition started back in 1895.

In Portugal the New Year celebration is also taken very seriously. The tradition is to drink champagne and eat twelve raisins – one for each month of the year, making a wish for each.

--------

The top three places to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the U.S. are Las Vegas, Disney World and of course, New York City.

  --------

Internationally, one of the biggest celebrations is in Sydney, Australia. More than 80,000 fireworks are set off from Sydney Harbour Bridge.

------

In Colombia, Cuba and Puerto Rico, some families stuff a large doll, which is called Mr. Old Year, with memories from the past year. They also dress him in clothes from the outgoing year. At midnight, he is set ablaze, thus burning away the bad memories.

------

In the U.S. South it is not quite so drastic: It is good luck to eat foods like black eyed peas, ham and cabbage because it is thought they bring prosperity.

 -------

Well, that is basically all for today.

Yesterday was Christmas Day... and I loved it,  but some trivia from me is this: my favorite night of the whole year is Christmas Night!!!
Yes. I do love when the holiday is over - and I can breathe.  In - Out - slowly.  Mm.

My daughter's family (who live in Oregon) will be here in the middle of January, so we will keep the Christmas decor up till then.
Still: I am relaxing for now.
Do I love relaxing?
There is nothing better!!!

YES!!!

I may do trivia on 'resting and relaxing' someday.
Well, that intrigues me - like how do folks do it?
What is the best way to rest/relax???

I'm all about that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Tea room fun...

A week ago Saturday I had some special guests come to the LoneStar Antique Mall Simpliteas Tea Room...
That is my mother to my right, and Ernie and Kathy Ward,
who visit Mother every Christmas season with a ham or turkey.
They had never been to the tea room before, so this was a special treat.
(Ernie used to work Daddy's land in Colfax, TX. He and Kathy are like family.)

Then yesterday my longtime friend (well, whom I've made since I started playing the tea room over 12 years ago) came in, and well, we had gotten the Christmas shirt memo. So we had to have a picture made.
That's Debbie. She is a dear Christian lady and has been my longest tea room friend.
I just love her.

Oh, after the tea room was closed yesterday the wait staff and manager and handsome dish-washer extraordinaire had a party of our own!!!

From left clockwise: Erika, Rosie, Abby, Josh, Judy and Amanda.
I love them all so much!
(Judy, our manager, is holding my stocking!)

Abby (the third from left) made the most delicious sopapilla cheesecake...
When nobody was looking I took a selfie.

I know, I must have great self-confidence to make a selfie of me eating!
Well, I guess I do! (finally)

---------

That is all for today.

I am having a serene Christmas Eve Day.
It is wonderful.

And I just thank God for this special season of celebrating our Savior's birth.

WHAT? A slow day before Christmas?

I say YES!

This time of year can be crazy.

And it can make me crazy.

"CRAZY" translates to "STRESSED" to me.

But not today.

I am celebrating the reason for the season - JESUS.

And it is a RELIEF.

WHEW. THANK YOU, LORD.

What a relief.

(This doesn't mean I have everything done for Christmas...
it just means I am relaxing.)

I can relax...
and not have to do every. single. thing.
(whatever that means, which usually means everything.)

Other folks can take up the slack.

WHEW!!!

WHEW!!!

OH YEAH!!!

WHAT A RELIEF!!!

That's all for today, since I'm relaxing.

That's all for today.

I think I need that 'Thinking Chair"!!!
