FUN! (and are some people too handsome?)

Tonight here were the master trick-or-treaters...
It looks like handsome Liam could go to Hollywood and be a STAR!
(I don't want him in Hollywood, okay?)

Well, whoever this is could be a star in movies, too.
No. I don't want Nell to go to Hollywood!!

I want to keep these two close to me.
As in NEARBY.

----------
As for our Halloween visitors - we've had a few so far.
I had to get candy that wouldn't entice me (so no M&Ms, or Butterfingers, or for sure no Nestle's Crunch). (You go, Nancy.)

Earlier this week (Sunday)- we celebrated Nell and Liam's birthdays - which are both in November, but well, the end of October was super to celebrate. Sunday the weather was perfect.
Here are some pics...
This is Liam with his special needs preschool teacher,
whose little girl is Nell's good friend in kindergarten.
It was so great to meet 'Miss Sara' and see Liam with her.
💓

And here are some activities at the great party...

--------

I have more to tell.
I will soon.
Stay tuned!

Trivia Tuesday

Trick-or-treating has existed since medieval times. Back then, it was known as "guising" in Scotland and Ireland. Young people dressed up in costumes and asked for food or money in exchange for songs, poems, or other "tricks." Today, the tradition has morphed into children to getting dressed up and asking for candy.

------

And now for some trivia about the 1978 movie HALLOWEEN...

  • "Halloween" was made in only 21 days in 1978 on a very limited budget.
  • The movie was shot in the Spring and used fake autumn leaves.
  • The mask used by Michael Meyers in the movie "Halloween" was actually William Shatner's mask painted white. (!)
  • The character Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis was named after John Carpenter's first girlfriend.
  • While the setting for the story is in Illinois, the vehicles have California license plates.
I don't know if I've ever watched that whole movie.
Hmm. I don't think that it would be edifying.
But it might be fun. ??
(I like fun.)

The fear of Halloween is known as Samhainopobia.

That's all for today.
Have a great week!

My newest favorite picture!

By dear granddaughter drew this for me this week at school (she is in kindergarten). I'm on the right and she is on the left.
And she's learned how to draw stars.
Is that not a wonderful picture??
Can you see how I'm looking down at Nell, while we're both smiling?
I love that.
On the way home from school that day Nell counted to 100 faster than I've ever heard anyone count to 100. Whoa.

Here she is that same day. Notice her Halloween skirt! Wow.

AND she had special playmate that day, her sweet cousin Enza...
I was there to monitor their intake of those fruit snacks.
I didn't serve homemade cookies, but fruit snacks (monitored) are a great treat.

Enza really took to the playground in the playroom.

--------

Here is Nell's little brother with his DaddyPap...
I just love those guys!

-------
Soon I will show you my gorgeous great nieces and handsome great nephew, with their gorgeous mom.
Stay tuned.

-------

Oh and next month I'm flying to Oregon to see these folks...
Ransom just turned three!
I'll bring his gift on the airplane, okay?
OKAY!!!

If you need help, I so hope you will let yourself get help.

I needed help years ago.
I felt weird about it, though, since I was a pastor's wife (and had even been a missionary for a few short years). (!)
I was supposed to have 'everything together.'

Well, I didn't.

And found it a profound relief (though after a LONG while) that I could admit I needed help.

I was having major insomnia - and many bouts of negativity and lots of sad feelings.
I had been keeping up my 'quiet times' that I had learned through many years of 'spiritual growth'...
And I had even read a book that was against psychologists - and their 'psychological babble'.

But then (long story short) I knew I needed help.

Finally I became open to 'help'.

Finally I went to a counselor,
It has affected my life ever since. EVER SINCE.

Sam had recommended folks to this counselor he'd found. A GREAT COUNSELOR.
So he recommended ME to that counselor.

I was kind of fearful.
I thought it would make me rethink my growing-up years... and question them - well, as BAD YEARS. Toxic years.

NO. It helped me see my family of origin as though not perfect, having some lessons I could learn.
Like what did my daddy do? How did he think?
How did he respond to negativity?

WHOA.

I won't go into it all (it would take a book) but I did discover that I could face life okay.
I could.
And I can.
And I do.

I give a HEARTY THANKS TO DR. BARRIS AYRES, MY COUNSELOR AND MY LIFELONG FRIEND.

I do NOT know what I would have done without you, Barris.

THANK YOU!!!

THANK YOU!!!!

Three Years Ago This Very day...

I saw my very first childbirth.
Yes.
This is my blog.
It is all about me.
(Oh, I'd had two sweety-babies by C-section years ago, but I wasn't 'looking' at the time.)
This time I looked/watched.
Whoa.

My daughter's 'doula' took that picture of me.
I'm glad she did.

And little Ransom was born.

Well, these are the main people involved...

And of course, the star....

I have found it AMAZING how much a little tiny infant can grow in 3 years..

Here we go...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RANSOM!!!

WE LOVE YOU MORE THAN WE CAN SAY!!!
