Just the Two of Us

... for Thanksgiving.

We've been married 42 years - and that is how long we have NEVER been away from some of our family members for Thanksgiving, UNTIL NOW.

Ah, but we celebrated, just the two of us, and we had a ...

Here's Sam working...

Here's our simple table setting...

And with the food...

It was good.
It was ordered from WHOLE FOODS.
The turkey was excellent.
The cornbread dressing was good AFTER we drenched it with their delicious gravy.
The maple mashed sweet potatoes were great.
The green bean casserole was not so great.
The cranberry/orange relish was good.

We baked some Pillsbury biscuits that were super - with our real butter and honey. YUM.
And for dessert we had pumpkin pie from Market Street. It was divine (with Reddi Wip whipped cream on top).

(It was Sam's suggestion to order all of that food, just so you know.  Of course I didn't protest.)

So we overate, of course.
I ALWAYS overeat on Thanksgiving. It is a TRADITION!!!

I hope YOU had a wonderful Thanksgiving, too.

P.S. We talked to my dear mother late yesterday. She had a good (though pureed) Thanksgiving meal. She was not feeling good, and ready to get out of that COVID isolation... hopefully soon. BUT this morning we talked to her - and she sounded like herself!! She said that this is the first day in a while that she has hope! Wow.
For that I am extremely thankful!!
Thank you so much for your prayers!!

Trivia Tuesday

The word “infant” is from the Latin for “unable to speak".

Ah, but that little baby speaks volumes, don't you think? 😊

-----------

What happens when you cut a starfish up into pieces? Depending on where it has been cut, the starfish will regenerate itself into a whole new starfish. This applies as long as the cut piece is still attached to part of the original central region. A piece cut off the edge will not be able to regenerate itself.

-----------

On November 10, 1908 - the first Gideon Bible was put in hotel rooms at the Superior Hotel in Superior, Montana.
(My dear dad was a Gideon.)

---------

My 94-year-old mom - with Covid - is doing pretty well.
Prayers are amazingly effective!!
THANK YOU!!

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

James 5:16

Update: this morning she was not feeling well. 😞

---------

What is the largest city in the Amazon Rainforest?  Manaus, Brazil

 --------

We know some more folks with Covid.
Be careful... more careful than you think you should be, especially during the holiday season.
Really. You may need to change your holiday plans AT THE LAST MINUTE!!
Really.

--------

More random trivia..

What country has an annual festival honoring chimney sweeps? Italy

---------

What is the world’s tallest grass? Bamboo

------

And finally, almost eight in 10 Americans agree that the second helpings of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and of course pie beat out the big dinner itself, according to a 2015 Harris Poll.

That is all for today.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Some More Favorites and One Not-So-Favorite

Yes. That is our house!
We've never done any Christmas decorating before Thanksgiving,
but in this weird year we are making an exception.
Now we haven't done any decorating inside, but we will.
(Our neighbor's children FaceTimed their cousins showing them our house!)

Another favorite?

Have you seen TED LASSO?
We watched it last week (all episodes out now)
and REALLY enjoyed it!

It was very heart-warming, and I was needing heart-warminess!

Here's some favorite hair - on our granddaughter on Halloween...

Isn't that classy?

And here's mine...

Yeah. My hair has grown!
(I recently made that picture my profile pic on FB.)
It looks better from the back.
I need to work on the long-hair-look from the front.

I actually don't want to get it cut yet.
I want to see how long it will get until I can't stand it.
(So for now I like it.)

Here's another favorite - if you need a smile (who doesn't need a smile?).

These are quokkas.
They are marsupials native to Western Australia,
and wear a perpetual “Hey there! Good to see ya! Oh, you brought pie!” smile on their faces.
(An adult quokka is about 6.7 pounds.)

My final favorite for today is this picture of my Oregonian grandson
who was (is) celebrating autumn!

-----

So...
what is my not-so-favorite?

Clearly Covid and that my 94-year-old mother has it!!!

It has been amazing how well she is doing,
but she is not out of the woods.

She has been coughing more,
but still doesn't need oxygen and has no fever.
She's pretty alert when she's awake,
but she is sleeping a bit more than usual,
but I'm thinking that may be good for her.

Thank you so much your prayers!!!!!!!!

That's about all I don't like now.
Well, except for your prayers.
I LOVE THEM!!

Friday Fun - on Getting Older

 - The aging process could be slowed down if it had to work its way through Congress.

- You're getting old when you're sitting in a rocker and you can't get it started.

- You're getting old when you wake up with that morning-after feeling, and you didn't do anything the night before.

- You know you're getting old when you stop buying green bananas.

- When you lean over to pick something up off the floor, you ask yourself if there is anything else you need to do while you are down there.

That is all for today.
Have a great weekend!!

Election Fraud?

The Democrats wanted us to be patient... when before the election they thought Trump might have more votes.

Now they're impatient.

Excuse me?

Whoopi is telling us to 'get over it'.
So is Robert DeNiro.

Excuse me?

Frankly, I was thinking that it would be good for Trump to just concede - so there wouldn't be rioting and looting. (Folks put up plywood over nice store windows and doors in case Trump won, right?)

Ah, but now I'm thinking that it is okay for whomever to question any election results - when there does (or might) seem to be questionable election results.

The liberal media will never tell you that there might be questionable election results.
Well, unless Trump was winning.

That is what I believe.

Oh, I quit watching and listening to Trump's rallies a while back. Here's what I wrote on my daughter-in-law's post on FB...

You know I'm a conservative, but I haven't watched or listened to a Trump rally for weeks and weeks. His bragging - and overall demeanor - never once made me want to tune in. He did amazing things for America, though, in my opinion (economy, foreign affairs and his prolife stance), but I will not miss his rants (just so you know).

So that's where I 'was'.

Now, though, I'm tired of it all. That does NOT mean that I want it over no matter what.
I want it verified, though I don't know how that will be - what with everybody having an agenda.

These allegations of election fraud have repercussions (or pre-percussions) for the future.

Of course, this may all be human error problems.
Whatever.
I believe that the President has the right to look into these allegations of fraud.

And I so hope he will concede amicably if Biden truly won the election.
YES.

Whatever... I need to detach, and know that what will be will be.

I am not in charge.

What a relief.

Some Favorites- and Some Not-So-Favorites

Here's my favorite person - who has a patch on his mask!

Sam still has some residual effects from Covid, but getting better everyday.

And here's another one of my most favorite people in the whole world...

It's my dear dad, when he was just a very young little fella!!!

I love that picture!

(He died in 2016 and I miss him so.)

 ---------

Another favorite is a place I like: Cannon Beach, Oregon.
I've been there with my daughter and her family
(who live in Portland) and it is GREAT!!

--------

Oh, and I really like Greg Gutfeld.

He is disarming - as a conservative guy (which he hasn't always been).
His "Greg Gutfeld Show" on Fox News at 9:00  Saturday nights- Central time - is SUPER.
Sam and I record it every week.
We really enjoy it!!

Oh and I love daughter Laura's Christmas cards...

Now this Christmas snail is what I need.
A lot of folks love the Christmas season.
Well, while I love the 'Reason for the Season'
I have found this season can be very stressful.
Ah, but this snail makes me slow down.  Mmm. I love it.
Click HERE to see it on Laura's Etsy Facebook page.

Oh - and Joe DeVito - he is my new favorite comedian!!

Check him out at Joe DeVito. com.

 ----------

Here's some of my favorite food:
HOP DODDY's Llano Poblano Burger

I also really like the El Diablo Burger, but oh, though I really like jalapenos I have to take most of them off of this burger, but the juices of them are still there though not as potent.  Talk about YUM!!

Oh, and HOP DODDY's French Fries with Green Chile Queso are super!!
It's a big serving, for many folks (just to warn you).

----------

So what do I NOT like??

Cheeseburger pizza from Papa Johns.
We ordered that recently because it was on major sale.
I usually like any kind of pizza.
But not that.

And
I don't like how Blogger is these days.
I want to make the words bigger on this blog.
And change the font. I used to could.
I want to change the layout on the right side. I used to could.
I want to do stuff that I used to could.
Hello?!
HELLO?!

It's made blogging not as much fun when I don't have control of the fonts, and their sizes, and the backgrounds, and well, lots of stuff.
---------

So what else do I not like?
This Pandemic!!!!
OF COURSE
----------
What else do I not like?
Well, lately - with time on my hands (which might make you jealous)
I have watched some Carol Burnett shows.
They are TOO SILLY for me. That 'Tarzan' yell of hers is TOO MUCH.

Well, and 'Gilligan's Island' can be a little too silly.

But I do so enjoy "I Love Lucy".

I'll close with this...

I really like that.
And that's how I'm gonna be today!

Okay. Those are some things I like - and don't like.
I know you have yours.
